Tales of A Paleo Mom

We did it, we did it, we did it…..yay!

on April 19, 2013

You have to sing the “Dora the Explorer” theme song when you read the title 🙂

But really we did do it….finally!  I had mentioned in an earlier post that my friend and I bought Crossfit Groupons.  We were so nervous to start but finally convinced one another to go today to the 4:30 workout.

I LOVED IT!  I think we went on a perfect day and ended up with a good workout to kick off our Crossfit journey. It started with a warm up run and stretching.  We then moved onto our special lite workout for newbies with no “on the ramp” training.  We did weighted step ups 5 rounds of 5 reps and then 10 rounds of 7 ball slams and 10 leg lifts.  (The ball slams were therapy after another “fabulous” day in the classroom.)  At the end, we were invited to the mat for an additional ab workout.  That hurt…a lot.  Overall, it was just challenging enough without scaring the crap out of us ever going back.  In fact, we did a high-five in the car on the way home and were planning our next trip back as well as what days would work out for us.  LOVE. IT.

My eating wasn’t fantastic today – not bad – but not enough fats and veggies.

Today’s Chow…

  • Meal 1:  coffee with coconut milk and coconut sugar (gotta cut out sugar), 2 hard-boiled eggs and a blueberry muffin Lara bar
  • Meal 2:  leftover Balsamic Garlic crusted steak, green beans, and 1/4 sweet potato, Gone Nuts! Raw Cacao Covered Almonds, Coconut, Blueberries and Raisins (I found these at Whole Foods and Sprouts Market.  I am addicted to this!)
  • Meal 3:  taco salad with more leftover steak, olives, avocado, Romaine lettuce, salsa for the dressing
  • Before bed…decaf with coconut milk

Today’s Workout (Woohoo!)

  • Part one – 5 x 5 step ups (15, 15, 20, 20, 20)
  • Part two (for time) – 10 rounds of 7 ball slams and 10 leg lifts
  • Bonus WO -3 rounds of  v ups, medicine ball twist, bicycle, side plank (alternating L and R) with final being regular plank – each exercise was done for 30 seconds with one minute rest between sets

Ahhhh…10:02 pm!  Time for bed!
