Turkey Get Ups Workout

So my morning started at 5:20 am.  I was actually awake before the alarm went off.  Got into my workout clothes and headed downstairs to a stinky, pull-my-shirt-over-my-nose stench.  I slowly walked over to check on our bulldog, Cooper, knowing where the stink was coming from and was not so happy to find he crapped in his dog bed/house thing.  So I quickly shoved him along with the house outside and cracked the sliding door and a window.  I filled up my water bottled and ran out the door for Crossfit.  Our workout with warm-up and all went until 7:00 am exactly.  This was definitely the longest workout we have done so far.  We dashed home and as I walked in the door my child tells me, “Wow, I was really sweaty last night.  Go check out the huge spot on my bed.”  Ughhh…it wasn’t sweat.  I quickly stripped the bed and threw the bedding into the washer and quickly showered and got ready for work.  Thank goodness my hair is long enough for a ponytail!

With a morning like this, I though for sure the day was going to be “one of those days”.  Fortunately, the day ended up fine.  School was school.  Joey had an appointment with a pulmonary specialist to see if he was asthmatic.  Everything looked totally normal so he is not asthmatic but had something trigger the asthma attack.  That is still to be determined what caused it and he could still have “asthma episodes” if triggered.  I am just glad he can run around again without worrying again!

My daughter baked chocolate chip cookies tonight after dinner (per the request of her father) of which I wanted none.  That was weird.  I LOVE sweets especially baked goodies and even have a hard time turning down non- Paleofied treats, so it amazes me that I have no urge to eat one.   Like not even a taste.  Strange.

I am praying for a full night sleep.  I don’t know when the last time I slept through the night was.  I have been waking up between 1 and 2 then again every hour until it is time to get up.  It is soooo annoying.  I even bought new, expensive sheets that seemed to do the trick for a short period of time, but I am back to night sweats again….grrrrrr.  Getting old sucks!

Back to talking about food….tomorrow night I have Chicken Piccata on the menu.  I don’t really want that now but am going to make it anyway.  I will be tweaking mine, so hopefully I will have a recipe to post tomorrow night.  I am ready to start posting more recipes.  I have a bunch lined up but haven’t had a chance to work on them yet.  Hopefully, next week.

Today’s Chow…

  • Meal 1 – 2 hard boiled eggs, fruit, cup of tea (not so hungry after workout)
  • Meal 2 – kale, leftover pulled pork, leftover fruit, apple with sun butter (was soo hungry!)
  • Snack – nuts (but a reasonable amount)
  • Meal 3 – pork tenderloin, green beans, salad with olive oil and fig balsamic vinegar
  • Right now – sleepy time tea with coconut milk (not the best…)

Today’s Workout…

  • run and stretching
  • 5 sets of 5 TGU (Turkish Get Ups or as the guy at the gym called them Turkey Get Up)  – I used a 10 lb. dumbbell and am feeling these now.
  • WOD – 10 minutes AMRAP of 10 4 count burpees, 10 ab twists with 10 lb. ball, 10 pole jumps – I think I did 5 rounds.  The burpees were the killer in this workout!  Great, sweaty workout!
