Stitch Fix #2

On Monday, my Stitch Fix #2 was waiting for me when I finally made it home.  Trying to be patient (good things come to those who wait), I got ready for my afternoon jog/walk, but I  couldn’t resist opening the box to see what was inside.  After opening the box, I peeked at the stack of clothing and the styling card.  Since it was close to getting dark, I left the stack of clothing on the bed, even though I was dying to try everything on, and went for my jog/walk.

Once dinner was prepared, eaten and cleaned up, I dragged my 10 year old son upstairs for the “fix” photo session.  (My 13 year old was at soccer practice.)  I ended up snapping a few pictures myself because the view from his spot on the floor (he was playing on the iPad-of course-while he waited) was not the most flattering.

First up was the dress.  It was a black dress with elephant print ($48).  The color and print were fine.  Before even trying it on, I held it up and it looked like a tent.  I already knew it was going to be a no.  I tried it on anyways in hopes that I was wrong, but I wasn’t.  My son really liked the dress and my sister said it was cute from a picture I sent her.  I disagreed with both and immediately set it aside for the return pile.  Verdict:  Send back.

Next up was the grayish shirt ($38).  In my first “fix”, I had this same style of shirt but it was black.  I returned the first black shirt and had commented that I liked it but didn’t really need anymore black tops.  I love that “the stylists” really read the notes and resend items to better fit your requests.  I liked this top a lot.  It is super soft and hides my belly.  I can already picture wearing it with jeans and a pair of black ballet flats for work.  Verdict:  Keep.

The next two items I tried on together…navy blue bird shirt ($28) and boyfriend jeans ($78).  I liked the bird shirt.  The buttons on the arms aren’t my favorite, but it fit well and isn’t like anything in my closet.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE  the boyfriend jeans.  They are comfortable, perfect fit, and super cute.  Even though I just bought a pair from The Loft and these were a little pricey, this pair is much more comfortable and something I can dress up or down.  Verdict:  Keep both.

The last item which I thought I was going to love the most was the black and white striped skirt ($48).  I had no idea what top to put on and the suggested top was a coral colored (of which I have none), so I just grabbed a colored top out of the closet…ewwww.  When I looked at the picture my budding photographer took, it was clearly not a good match and the skirt was not flattering.  I didn’t like the length of the skirt, and it was a bit snug around my waist.  Verdict:  Send back.

I ended up keeping three of the five items for a total of $144 and with my $20 styling fee credit…$124.  Not too bad.

This time, in addition to lots of notes for each item, I also added the link to my Pinterest board for my styles/outfits I like in my comments section.  I had to laugh because almost everything I pinned was an outfit with jeans!

For anyone interested in learning more about Stitch Fix, here some information…

  • There’s a $20 styling fee, which you can use toward your order if you decide to keep items. (Sweet!)
  • If you keep all 5 items you receive 25% off your order.
  • You choose your price range.  Most items are around $65 on average.
  • The more feedback you give on the pieces sent to you, the better they get over time. So be sure to be very specific to your stylists so that they can send you things you’ll love.
  • Each piece comes with a little tag and two pairing suggestions (thank goodness!)
  • Keep as many items as you like and return the items you don’t for FREE.

Note: If you are thinking about trying Stitch Fix, please feel free to use the links in the post.  I was not paid for this post, however, the links to Stitch Fix are my affiliate links, so if you buy something using that link, I get a credit on my next Fix, and I will love you forever because I desperately need some new clothes. 🙂
